Disregard UOA anyone agree synthetic oil smoother?

As title, anyone feel the difference of synthetic oil making your engine run smoother than using dino? Yes I know, UOA can be better when you use dino then syn. Dino can protect your engine as well... etc... etc...

I just finish Auto-Rx(using Shell Dino), and go to Valvoline Maxlife Syn, my gf can tell the difference even she is just a passenger. I have convince some of my friends to try synthetic motor oil, most of them have positive feedback, and they are not car nuts, they do not addicted to car stuff.

IMHO, synthetic motor oil do not overkill in daily driver, as long as they are willing to dump money to their cars... Anyone agrees?

Which synthetic makes car run smoother? I have Group III in my car and it does seem to run smoother. I dunno about PAO or Ester syn...

I think that some oils will make your engine run smoother, but I don't think it's a dino verses synthetic thing; I think it just depends on the oil. Maxlife making your engine run smoother is no surprise to me.

I can only confirm that in every motorcycle application I have personally experienced going to either Amsoil 10W-40 or 20W-50 has definitely made an immediate, positive, large & very noticeable difference in both shift quality and clutch feel...

As far as being able to somehow feel "smoothness" in an engine... I don't know for sure. I remember pouring a bottle of STP into a 440 Chrysler soon after an oil & filter change and hearing the idle rpm's increase, but that was over 30 years ago.

One of my customers rides a late model Yamaha 650. He said it vibrated so bad at 70 that he hated riding it. He switched from Yamalube to 10W40 Amsoil MCF and he said it smoothed out the vibration so much he enjoys riding it much more.

i beleive some motors run slightly smoother with certain oils.. my tacoma idles a little rough with syn M1 and the current durablend in the motor it runs smoother

I agree with Merkava. I have noticed a slight difference in some oils. I don't believe it has anything to do with synthetic or dino though.

Yes, "smoother" can be noticed. I notice it. Quieter, too.

I definitely agree with some oils being smoother then others; and it's NOT just something that we want bad enough so we believe it, I feel it can truly be felt.

Ask my 11yr old nephew, seriously.

I have a truck that *grew up* on Havoline for 149k miles or so, after coming here, I tried a few different oils just out of curiousity - I wasn't having any actual issues, I just wanted to try something different.

Truck now at 175k miles runs MUCH smoother, quieter for these last 26k miles or so, then it did it's previous 8.5yrs of life.

I'm NOT saying Havoline caused any issues - as this engine is very clean, from what I can tell (never been opened), runs extremely well for 10yrs old, and I'm very fond of Havoline products, prior to the Deposit shield formulation.

But, it definitely likes the Valvoline Maxlife, and/or Rotella synthetic.

personally I think its all that moly in it that makes the car smoother. My car runs smoother on Pennzoil Yellow over Mobil 1 silver. Go figure.

After running Supertech dino for a couple of ARX runs on my wife's Jeep, I put in PP and my wife commented on how smooth and quiet the car now runs.

I tried Amsoil in my truck one time. My father was there when I put it in and he noticed the difference in noise from outside the car. Previous oil was quick lube dino. I currently use PP in the truck and had the same effect as the Jeep above after ARX on Supertech dino.

It is very noticeable to me.

I've been told I'm suffering the placebo effect, but I'm running M1 for this first time in my minivan, and I can noticed that there is less of a lurch when going into different gears when accelerating. It really does accerate much smoother. I will say the difference isn't huge, but is noticeable.

I had been using Castrol for a couple of years, and for about one year I used Castrol High Mileage. Engine made pinging sounds on some startups, RPMs sounded really high for about a minute or so of idling, and it wasn't all that smooth.

Went to Amsoil and engine was MUCH quieter, idled smoother, and accelerated better. Also, I have never had any metal pinging sounds on startup with Amsoil.

I have an '05 Vibe with a very chatty Toyota 1ZZFE engine. I can't vouch for synth vs. dino, but I have noticed differences among synthethics. Changing from M1 to PP or even ST Synth make things quieter; as for idling, etc., it seems smoother, but that's probably in my head.

I think I used a wrong wording, I should change "can" to
"maybe". I remember reading someone's posting a comparison of some UOA of his car. He said the wear number is better when using dino. I think this is just some cars doing this.

My problem with dino is after about a few k's miles engine seems dragging under heavy load. It makes it hard to keep the oil much longer in the cranksace when it happens. With syn it seems it lasts longer. I guess it is either thickening or something to that effect.
