Dishwasher Issue

clogged return line or pump. Check to see if you can clear it and get it to working again (requires the pulling of the back cover to investigate).

Q.

Most dishwashers have a float...looks kinda like a cone below the bottom rack. When too much water builds up the float rises up and stops operation. Sound like you have a plugged drain line. I would check the sink trap and the drain from dishwasher to the sink. I've had a single straw cause a back up!

+1

Can also be a pretty entertaining site if you get that type of humor. Has saved me at least 3 service calls to date anyways...

If it fills, and then fails to run its cycle, you may have a problem with the mechanical timer, if it has one.
Ours got stuck at one point.
I was able to free it after removing the front panel.

Turns out it is the mechanical timer...A friend came over and we had to remove the front panel.

Thanks all for your quick help as usual.

When I first moved in here I had a 30 year old Hotpoint dishwasher....Besides it being noisy I had zero issues with it but replaced the dishwasher when I decided to get all new GE appliances a few years back.
