Discount Tires

Wrong. Depends where you are in Texas. Might not need them all winter long, but you definitely need them some times. You are also assuming I don't travel to places that have lot's of snow.

Pretty good service.
One time on the rx7 they overtightened the lug and broke the stud. Then they send me to one not so good shop which cud not do it. I said enough and took it to midas and they replaced all four studs on that wheel for about 40 bucks which discount tire reimbursed me. Pain in the rear though.
But i still go to them !!!

Discount Tires is a particular franchise of tire stores.

Perhaps we're talking about two different companies. The one I and others referenced and most commonly posted about on Bitog is Discount Tire (singular). It's online sister company is DT Direct.

Be that as it may, lots of places to buy tires. Don't like DT, shop elsewhere. For me, I've yet to find another establishment that provides the consistent overall quality service and value I find at DT.

I used to sell tires to shops, and I can see the discipline they try to instill in workers.

I ordered Michelin PSS set on an RX8 with Enkei wheels, and waited in room for about an hour or so.

I went out in front of bay doors to watch some, and I could see they were wire brushing light rust off studs, and seemed to be careful.

I go home to recheck everything, notice the right rear tire is put on inside out which I spotted looking at tread.

No problem; that was the first tire they put on, and made a normal mistake.

They reseated tire, and said they rebalanced, so tires work perfect like I expected.

I pretty much trust, but verify work when I get home.

What is their policy now?

They used to replace a tire no charge if you were not happy even if you did not buy the insurance. I never bought the warranty because why, if they guaranteed satisfaction. I brought back one brand new tire that went bad. They pointed out that I did not buy the warranty. I pointed out that their advertisement guaranteed satisfaction and they said yes sir and made it right. No charge.

I am amazed that people buy warranties at places like Home Depot that guarantee satisfaction or bring it back for the complete refund. If I think something is so poor that it needs a warranty I don't buy that product.

I think my papers said Michehlin even gives road service if tire goes flat on my PSS set.

Did I misread?

I would have started with question:
what do you want from your tires?

Second one is where to get them and third where to have them installed.
One can combine steps 2 and 3.

PS All season - it seems that General Altimax RT43 is available in 185/60R15. Sporty - no, dependable - yes. What do you need from the new tires?

I stated what I want from tires. More traction than the Michelin all weathers on dry pavement - they are sub standard there.

I have a problem with buying from one place and installing at another. That situation can lead to 2 and 3 pointing fingers at each other when there is a problem.

I found this.
"I am looking for a trouble free experience, longevity and a bit more traction."

What about wet? Snow/ice - is it concern for you?

Sometimes. Not for months on end. I used to use Pirelli Cinturatos Back in the day on My TR4A, TR3 Race Car (for rain) and Datsun 1200. Those tires were great until Pirelli went down hill quite a while ago. I put Skid marks in the rain one time on them when a kid pulled out in front of me on a motorcycle. Barely hit him. No injury, but shook him up. I've driven through a blizzard on them in the Rockies.

That's what I'm looking for.

Not so sure modern ABS will allow any tires to put skid marks on wet pavement.
I suspect your old tires had amazing soft compound that did not last long, but I may be wrong.

Let's see what others recommend.

I don't have ABS. The Pirelli's did not last as long as Michelin, but could get several years of hard driving out of them.

I've not purchased from their brick and mortar stores, but I've ordered many sets of tires from DTD (Discount Tire Direct) on line. Never any issues. One positive is the rebate center is a portal where you can submit and check your rebate status online.

Occasionally, I'll come across a closeout/deal set so discounted that I'll grab them even though my vehicle is not quite ready for them. I've three cars to maintain.
