Sandy. Peggy. I for one would not name my kids those names but possibly during the 60's and 70's they were cute or wanted to be special. Some names held up as popular such as Brandon, Kevin or variants of Christopher/Christine. Newer names are of the ---den variant. Jayden, Aiden, etc.

Only interesting because I work with in a building with people with ages 50+ with "old" names. Then there's my friends with really interesting names.

Peggy is a actually nickname...the name is usually Margaret.

I worked with an Elvis, a Rufus, a Tremayne, a Janilson, an Immacula, and a Nevada. I currently work with a Joao, a Wilfredo, and an Antoine.

Offhand, I know of three men named "Tracey" and one named Kim.

Thank you for pointing out Peggy/Margaret.(there was a Peggy/Margaret in my graduating class)

I have 2 Margrets(no 2nd a)in my family, my Aunt Margie(hard g sound not, like j)and my sister, who has used the Nicknames Marge(rhymes with Large, though she's not), or Maggie.

the ones that drive me crazy, are the weird spellings of normal names.
A Friend Named her Daughter Lynsey, not Lindsay/Lindsey.

I work with Bre`ana, Brayana, and Briana.

My Sister used to date a guy named Stacey.

My buddy's Parents are named Vicki, and Terry, not Victoria and Terrance

When was the last time you saw a baby boy named John or Paul , Henry? Or an Elizabeth, or Mary for a girl. Tracy is an old Yankee boy's name. Call me anything but late for dinner

I prefer Jewish/Hebrew names the best, or any name that has a "meaning" behind it.

Parents that don't consider the "origin and meaning" of names are idiots of our society...

Then they name their kids something stupid like... Abcde (pronounced Ab-sid-ee)

I read an article recently that talked about parents naming their kids Abcd (Ab-sid-ee). Like how uncreative can you get.

My first name Ive literally never heard of anyone else having except for the town of Colton, California. Then shortly after I got my current job at a factory, they brought on an additional two Colton's on to my line. So, yeah, that was confusing for awhile.
My Mom has been asked before if I got that name due to General Hospital. I guess there was a doctor or someone with that name? Anyway, she said it was because of a bullrider on TV. I have to wonder sometimes with the proliferation, though.
Ive recently had some trouble with a high school age kid putting down his GMail address as colton.[my family name]. Only problem is I already have that address because that is my name too. Ive sent him messages three or four times to stop using my email. I think he finally got the picture that it isn't his gmail...

When my elementary-schooler talks about the kids in her class, half of the discussion is me asking "Is _____ a boy or a girl?" Many of the girls have names that sound like a last name, a name that was male in the past, or the name of a subdivision. A lot of the boy names seem invented. I'm sorry that I can't think of any examples right now.

Next thing you know, I'll be talking about the good old days and yelling at kids to get off my lawn.

My own name is Ken, I know of no kids with that one anymore.

Times change, we end up associating a name to a specific person and depending on that person, we like, hate or have no interest in that name.

Yup, popularity of names comes & goes. About 30-35 years ago it seemed all the little girls were named Jennifer or Jessica, & the little boys Jason or Jeffrey(or Geoffrey!).

I have 4 co-workers with the name Mary, and 2 Elizabeth's

There was a vogue about 25 years ago to give little boys "traditional" names. So there are a bunch of 20 ish "mikes" running around.

I like a name with a little history to it, but half the time they get it wrong anyway. Lots of little boys named "Austin" parents not knowing that's the the feminine form of Augustine.

When I was a kid, Sophie and Hattie were the most fuddy duddy names possible. "Sophie" made a big comeback, " hattie" is down for the count.

"Ann" has all but disappeared. Never saw that one coming.

Couple of weeks ago. My latest cousin (I have dozens, and gave up trying to keep them straight long ago) is named Mary. My wife is Elizabeth.
