In a harley twin cam. The manual specs 20w50 or oils rated for diesel. I know many sport bike guys run 15w40 but any harleys? Would it cause a problem?

Rotella 15w40 works great in my TC88. Of course, so does the Maxlife 20w50 that I'm currently using. Use what's on Sale...

If your question is it ok to run the hdeo's in a harley, I would think it would be ok. The rotella, mobil delvac, and chevron delo 400 15W40's are all very good oils. I have run the rotella line and exxon superflo 20W50 in my sportbike with no problems.
-Some people will say only run motorcycle specific oils, others (and me) say you can run hdeo and car oils as long as not energy conserving and they will serve you well. If it makes you feel better to run the moto-specific oils then do so. It is your bike, run what you want to run.
-Some bikes like the hdeo's, some dont. Just have to experiment and find out what works best for your application

I am sure that 15W/40 would not pose any problems for you. As for me, I'd run the factory recommended 20W/50, but that's just me.

I think G-Man runs 15W/40 Rotella in his Sportster. He seems to like it (based on past postings if I recall correctly). Maybe he'll see this topic and post a comment for you.

The 20W50's shear to a 40 pretty quickly, and the 15W40's tend to hold that 40 weight (from what I've seen).

I think the 15W40 would do a fine job...

But there's still this "little voice" in my head that says "If it's a Harley, it's gotta be a 20W50!"
