so here is the story:

I have been using mobil 1 dyno oil ever since my first oil change at about 2,500 miles.
I my 2006 acura tsx (5,500 miles) to EZ-lube for transmission fluid change...(i know i know, i shouldnt be going there).
but anyways, i brought in my own acura tranny fluid and asked them to do it. but the guy got confused and he also thought that i was doing oil change as well, but i had already gotten an oil change 3 weeks ago.
so he stopped the draining, and refilled it back up, and he supposedly said it was mobil 1 5w-30, but i couldnt tell b/c they use those tube things implanted in the ground.

however, when everything was finished, i checked my dipstick and realized that the oil was very slippery and water-like. so i feel like its synthetic or maybe even a different weight oil.

so i want to redo my oil change and put my prefferred oil in. but i dont know if i should go back to dyno oil (b/c i heard its bad to switch back and forth) or go straight to synthetic mobil1.

and does mixing oil weight and synthetic/dyno damage the engine at all?

thanks!

So he charged you for dino and put syn in? NOW there's a switch!

he didnt charge me anything b/c it was his mistake. he wasnt supposed to drain the oil. he was supposed to change tranny fluid only.
so he added free of charge. i am just skeptical about the the oil he used.

check the color, something tells me he may have put the transmission fluid in the engine. why change ATF at 5k miles?

Okay the question has already been asked, and I see no answer. Why would you change your trainy fluid at 5,500? This just seems like overkill to me. I would not change it until at least 15,000. But, as for oil, just put Pennzoil Platinum in there and be happy, as your car will be.

Yes, I too would probably change ATF early too - there is nothing wrong with getting out the break-in debris a bit early.

I too wonder if he put the ATF in the engine, because it is a bit more slippery/watery feeling.

The previous owner of my car changed the ATF early too, and the AT is still working flawlessly at 125k miles. It was changed 2 more times after that, I believe. Once with OEM Honda Z-1 and again with Amsoil ATF at 123k.
