I was at my local Walmart today and noticed that for the 5w30 grade of Royal Purple, there are 2 different looking bottles. The first batch, which looked like it had been on the shelf for a longer period of time, had the "5w30" in black lettering, had "SL" in bold on several places on the back of the bottle, and had different "descriptors" for the oil on the front of the bottle than the newer looking ones, which had the "5w30" in purple lettering, and no bold letters on the back of the bottle. Did RP just change their bottles up a bit? Did their oil formulation change? The part numbers were the same on both bottles. I'm just curious.

If you see both of them again, take a look at the molded bottles, probably the bottom. There should be a bottle molders name or code on the bottle. I'm guessing they changed bottlers. Or maybe not.

Yes they are still made in Schulenburg. And the two bottles were exactly the same... shape, cap, etc.

RP changed their labels about a year ago or so +/-. Has it been done again?

Well it looks like the "older" bottles i saw on the shelf had, by the looks of it, been there possibly a year. They were a bit dirty. NHHEMI, do you have a newer bottle of RP sitting around? I looked for the date of manufacture on the bottle, but i couldnt locate one.
