Beefed up Camaros have always been good in corners, even the old Nova platform ones.
Heck, a late Nova with an SBC and F41 suspension was pretty good in its own right.
I drove both a big block Trans Am and a Z28 that had been built in the 'seventies, and both were really impressive machines to drive.
The TA was a four speed, and was a '76 (IIRC) while the Z28 was of course an SBC and was automatic. IIRC, it was a '78.
I had the fun of repossesing both cars in '79 or '80.
Both were fast and had fine cornering limits, and both rode a whole lot better than the Corvette of the same era, although they were good fun to repo too.
Probably my favorite car of the period, though, was a '76 530i.
Fast and capable in the corners, but with such a well contolled ride and a feel of solidity that no American or Japanese product of the era could touch.
Mercedes of the era were the same way, but no 115 or 123 was anything like as fast or as sporty to drive as the BMWs.
I also enjoyed repoing a '78 280Z five speed.
Impressive car in every way.
