This past week, I changed out my oil in the old '51 pickup truck....and filled it with 4 quarts of Dollar General 10w30 and 4 quarts of Rotella straight 30w.
Upon starting the truck and letting it warm up for about 10 minutes, I noticed a distinct smell like a slight oil burn. It went away thereafter about 20 minutes of driving around.
I haven't detected an 'odor' like this before....usually after changing with just VPB 15w40 or Rotella 15w40.
Does it have something to do with the fact that this DG oil is rated as 'SM' on the back? It specifically says not to use in cars newer than 1996.
Odd, but to me it smelled like a lawn-mower was running. Did I make a mistake buying the SM oil? Didn't think it was an issue....
