These jumper cables caught my eye, but not for a good reason.

These cables claim on can jump a vehicle through a 7-pin trailer plug. I suspect one of two things may happen from this:
(1) a vehicle fuse blows as wiring can't handle the amps typically required from a jump start, now you have two vehicles with issues
(2) wiring harness that feeds into the trailer plug melts. This is even a bigger issue, as many of these harnesses contain things like tail light wiring, fuel pump ground, blind spot sensor feeds, etc.

Nonetheless, maybe I am wrong about this jumper cable- but I don't think so.

Most vehicles are smart enough to not turn on the charge circuit of the 7 pin these days unless there is a 'normal' load on the end of it, and they usually only supply a max of 15 amps or so.

No way I'd risk toasting the trailer module in my truck trying this stunt.

I don't even see how this would work. Doesn't jump starting require charging up the battery?

The only thing along these lines I'd ever consider doing (aside from jump packs as mentioned or just dealing with long enough cables-as we've all done for decades) is run adequate wiring from the battery to somewhere in the front and somewhere in the rear and fit with a keyed socket for adapted jumper cables.
All that would be to facilitate end-to-end car positioning ease and eliminate any chance of errant polarity.

And since I'm not in the car jumping business, I doubt I'd ever have need enough to rig that up.

That product's "the female end" appear to be 24" long.

The thing seems real stupid to me. Some outfit which works with cables dreamed up a product.
To its credit, this product was cheaper to develop than a new perfume and wouldn't require as much testing as a new pharmaceutical.

I can't see how this rig would actually work with the current capacity of the vehicle wiring involved.
Some folks will buy this cable and give it a try, though.
Wonder how much damage it would do?

I think it's made and commented on instructions to be used only for some charging like the 12V lead provides to keep and already charged trailer battery with a small amount. Somebody guaranteed to crank and pull all sorts of amps. My trailer 12V lead is only a 20 amp fuse.

7-pin can have a power feed. I actually use the in-bed one of my SuperDuty to run my ARB on road trips with a 7-pin to cig lighter adapter.

That said, if a vehicle is older (say, roughly, 2005 or older) or was retrofitted to 7-pin later, the odds that power pin is, well, powered are unknown.

Anyway, just like a cig lighter these might charge the not-too-dead dead battery (also known as a TOO BLAVE battery) of a vehicle after 20-60 minutes.

But yeah, overall this is a last resort sorta approach.

Is that one of those "as seen on TV " products like the little photocell on the dash to a cigarette lighter?
