The only purpose I see for such things is to give the vehicle enough power to open power trunk or move power seats for vehicles where the battery is either in the trunk or under the seat respectively.

I’d still rather use a jump pack with its own battery though…

Yeah those 12v cigarette lighter "suicide cords" were meant for well meaning parents to give their dumb kids for Xmas because regular battery clips are "too intimidating." The instructions mention waiting 15 minutes with the donor car running to charge, then unplugging stuff to save fuses.

This sort of thing WOULD be good for a dead Prius or similar hybrid that just needs enough of a 12V system to close a relay and fire off the real battery.
