As there is no bypass and/or adbv on the cartridge itself, I find the complaints about them to be curious. Unless the filter just doesn't fit right or collapses or something similar, it's difficult to understand. Anyway as said, I've found the Napa Gold/Wix no different in performance than the oems. Based on my experience, I'd say you should at least give them a try.

So far I've not found the average KIA owner to be near as car savvy as your typical BITOG'er or Jeep owner for that matter. Perhaps they are just repeating what they've heard.

I agree it doesn't make sense on a cartridge filter unless it just doesn't fit properly.

Anyway thank you for your help, I have reserved a NAPA Gold to pick up tomorrow at 10% off, only 5 minutes from home not 30 to a dealer.

Amsoil makes a cartridge for the Prius, but it costs around $18.

I use the OE Toyota elements at the cost of $4/ea, shipped, when purchased in a case of 10.

Thanks sayjac I got my Napa Gold/Wix 7050 yesterday. Not only does it appear to be a well made filter, it says "Made in South Korea" right on it. I'm not feeling any regrets for choosing to deviate from OEM at this point.

Not finding much info on this site regarding any of these I may post some virgin pics for posterity if I get time.
