I've been working under the illusion that Fram filters were of good quality for many years. I found a source that said that Fram paper filters only trap particles down to about 30 µ size, which is about the size of the space between bearings; filters that include synthetic materials offer superior filtering to paper alone. To my surprise I also saw a chart that indicated that the Toyota filter for my Prius allows about 50% of the 20 µ particles to escape the filter.
With 10 K miles, using synthetic oil, between oil changes, I certainly want to use a top quality filter. I've seen recommendations for Mobil 1, Purolator Pure One, Amsoil and Bosch filters. Does anyone have any recommendations and do you know any online retailers that carry a large supply of filters? These Prius filters are not easy to find. If possible, I would like to buy in bulk.
