What is the difference between:

SAE 30
HDEO 30
HD 30

Are these all the same type of oil? The reason I ask is because I am looking for an oil for my new 19.5 HP B&S lawn tractor. I started another thread on it and I had pretty much made up my mind and was going with a 5w30. I am now second guessing. Doing some research, people seem to throw out the above 3 oils and I have no idea the difference between any of them.

HDEO 30 is a heavy duty oil that meets both diesel and gasoline specs.

HD 30 is what most automotive 30 wt are.

SAE 30 is just the designation established by the Society Automotive Engineers. For your Briggs either the HD or HDEO will work just fine.

I just dropped the factory fill and added 10w30 HEDO. About 2 & 1/2 qts.

I used the Quaker State 3600 filter which is about 3-4 times larger than the B&S 21hp intek filter.
