Sears has special going on for Fuel System Service. The description says they will add cleaner to gas tank, cleaner to oil, induction cleaning and throttle body cleaning.

Is there a difference between induction cleaning and throttle body cleaning?

Yeah, I think induction cleaning is like the BG service, where they spray a cleaner into the intake system while running and it cleans the valves etc.

"Induction Service" would be through the intake (or one of the vacuum lines); generally the brake booster, PCV valve, or air box itself.

This sounds similar to the GumOut procedure that Walmart has, they hook an "IV drip" type thing to the intake, and let the solution trickle in through the intake, and then dump a concentrated solution into the gas tank, to basically clean out both sides of the fuel system; supposidely.

That's what Berryman's looks like lol....but the GumOut system at Walmart looked basically the same....only GumOut doesn't seem to provide a public "front" for the product/service on their site...funny cause gumout.com doesn't mention anything about it (just their aerosols and in-tank treatments). but did find some other links:

http://carfood.net/gumout.html has full directions

You may have better success with Berrymans B-12 CHEMTOOL in the tank, and Seafoam through the intake

No idea what the "throttle cleaning" would be, likely just spray some throttle body cleaning on the throttle plate and wash/dry it off with a shop towel....but I found a link for a DIY at mobil1.com too

I'd be curious what the "deal" is that Sears is offering..since Walmart does the GumOut 2/3-step cleaning for $20 in most of their automotive/TLE departments- Sears would be doing the equivalent of that, plus the throttle body cleaning so figure the pricing accordingly if you do decide to get it done.

I have no plan of getting that service from Sears; I was just curious. Sears "deal" is $55 (usual $75).

I am thinking about Sears for struts replacement on my 99 Camry.
