I still got 1 more oil change of my Kirkland full synthetic oil left and the powerboost takes 6Q of oil. I was looking online at Sam’s and saw this pennzoil that comes in 6 quarts already so I don’t have to buy a jug of any type of oil and another quart. I only do 5K intervals and was wondering if the Sam’s oil would be worth it or what the difference is.

If you need six quarts and not interested in a 6pk box, buy 2 five quart jugs and save the remainder for the next four OCIs. That way, you only need to buy 1 five quart jug next time - then the time after that - then the time after that time's next time.....etc....etc.
That’s what I do with my Corvette. It takes 6 quarts but I buy my M1 ESP 5w30 in the 5 quart jugs. The price for a 1L bottle of ESP here is ridiculous! 😵‍💫

For sure that works, and prevents you from getting hosed on the unit cost of a single quart. On the downside, you have to measure the oil carefully and you end up with that partially full five quart jug. Plus you have to remember what’s what and not confuse that open bottle with stuff that you are holding to recycle. The struggle is real, my friends.

My used oil jugs get a big X over both labels and the cap in the widest permanent black marker I have - if I pour oil from one of those into my car, I've got bigger problems.

I use a black sharpie marker to write on the side of the bottle "OPEN" and which car it goes to. That way I know I'm using up the open oil first. Also, my daughter can find the correct oil to put in her car when needed.

I only buy the 5qt jugs of oil due to cost of the single quarts being so high. I'll pour what's left of the open bottle into the engine and top off with the new. Been doing this for years without any issues. The bottles are marked on the side so you can estimate how much you put in. Then just check with the dipstick after backing the car off the stands and top off if needed.

I keep an empty 1-quart container to hand and fill from a second 5-quart container to use as an accurate measure, as have the same issue - needing to add 6 quarts. Technically spec says 6.3 quarts but always reads "full" when 6 quarts are added, along with a new filter.

Don't understand crazy high pricing on single quarts. Guessing it is market driven. If it can be sold at those high prices more profit for retailer/manufacturer. Also noticing increasing availability of 12-quart cartons at Walmart. Don't need the second six for another year and more time to open as well as more plastic to dispose of. However, on pricing by the quart these bulk 12-pack cartons are the most affordable if you are willing to store.

My truck takes 6 qts and my daughters suv takes 6.6 qts so I also sharpie mark the open 5qt jug and use it to get to 6 or 6.6
Never used the entry level Penz synthetic but it’ll work for you. PP is one of my faves

That’s what I do also, I saved a lot of empty 1L bottles from when I first started using M1 ESP Formula and it was only sold here in 1L bottles.

The only oil I buy in quart bottles is motorcycle oil. It's not usually available in larger jugs.

I do keep the empty 13oz oil bottle that came with my lawnmower. I flip and drip all the empty jugs/bottles into it throughout the year. When it comes time for an oil change in the mower, I top up the bottle with new oil to the full line and pour it in the mower.

The first one is their entry level synthetic so it’s more suited for shorter intervals of 7500 miles or less.
I just bought the Black Label in both regular and High Mileage and noticed a couple of things.
Pennzoil no longer refers to it as an "entry level" synthetic. I always thought that was poor marketing. They also tout on the bottle that it's guaranteed for 10,000 miles. It also has better specs than Platinum on all the PDS metrics; CCS, MRV, Flash Point, Pour Point and the viscosities @ 40C and 100C. On paper, it looks like a very good oil.
