I have a new Charger SXT V6 and I was curious about the rear differential fluid. Should it be changed early ie. 3-5k miles to flush the break-in metals out and then refill. It seems to be a neglected item. We flush our engines early but should the dif fluid be changed early? Would it be overkill or sound maintenance? Does anyone have a differential schedule.

I do not drive overly aggressive and most of my driving is city.

Can't hurt to change it early and put in a synthetic. Pretty straight forward job if the diff has a drain plug.

Yes! The break in will happen within the first 5K miles (on average) and that's where most of the lifetime total of wear metals will come from, not to mention the built-in junk from manufacturing (which is sometimes distressing substantial in volume). Get it out early and then run a "normal" interval of your choice.

I agree with Jim. In fact, I'm going to start doing the Mag-Hytec flush procedure after 1000 miles on every new vehicle I own from now on.
