New Truck - Change fluids early? Diff/ps/brake...

I already put the turkey baster to the ps fluid and replaced it with Amsoil ATF. I'll probably do it one more time before winter hits.

On the other topic, I just find it funny because I used to own a Dodge Ram and I would replace OEM parts that said "Made in China".

I say changing the rear diff fluid early is an excellent idea.

I changed the manual transmission fluid and diff oil on my new Ranger at 900 miles. Diff oil looked pretty good, but transmission fluid was very "sparkly." I'm glad I got the breaking metals out; I'd probably never wear out the trans or diff before the road salt gets to the body, but I feel better!

i would say change it out if it really bothers you.

I drained the ff in my 08 corolla at 2200 miles and replaced with coastal 75w90, then ran that to 10K on the odometer, then drained and refilled with amsoil mtg.

When I drained the ff there were some swirls in the oil, when I drained the coastal i didnt care about looking so i didnt notice.

I had been given the advice to wait until around 25K on the car to change the transmission fluid to let it fully break in but decided to do it early with the two changes just because i wanted to and had never done transmission stuff before.

once a year i will siphon and refill the ps fluid with amsoil atf.

My friends at Dana concur that 95% of diff breakin occurs within 500-1000 miles and removing the debris at that point is a good idea that is overlooked by all of the OEM's. Some of the guys believe if you drain at 1000 and install a high quality synthetic you are good for 100-120k. For tcases with clutches they recommend 30-50k.

I always change out ALL fluids at 10-20k to get out the initial wear metal.Bought the transmission fluid last week.[censored] sealed trans bites.
I have two 100k+ Toyotas.It may seem wasteful,but clean fluids are always good.

I say the SAE study weighs heavily and is the best information you have to make a decision. I too vote for changing factory fill diff fluid at 3-5K.

I'd subscribe to the "Buy American" mentality if the American nameplate manufacturers would do the same within their company. I can't stand the hypocrisy of this mentality. Where a car is assembled is only part of the story.
