Diesel oil for all OPE

3 years late!

I was considering getting down to two oils.

Then I realized that isn’t a big issue having some different oil on hand.

If I had a snowblower I would use 0W30, my mowers get 10W30, I keep SAE 30 and 15W40 for the generators in hot weather and use 10W30 or 5W30 if I need them in the winter.

Pressure washer is summer only - I tried 20W50 but think straight 30 or 15W40- maybe even some straight SAE 40 would be a better choice.

I take the view putting a correct oil in for the specific need is more important than a little bit of convenience of only having one oil to stock.

Considering your climate, you could switch to a 15w-40 HDEO for all of those.

All my summer OPE gets T5 15w-40, my winter OPE gets T6 5w-40. This includes a rider, walk-behind, power washer, snow blower and snow thrower.

Looking at just my OPE oil inventory 15W40 is in the lead with 12 quarts, 10W30 and SAE 30 with 8 quarts each.

I agree 15W40 is a versatile oil that can be used in a broad array of applications.

If I had to I could use it in my Tahoe with the 5.3L V8 and I am sure it would do fine.

But below freezing I want 5 or 10W30.

I use 5W40 Delo, 0W40 T6, or whatever 0W40 or 5W40 Euro oil I have open in my OPE and I've also used it in my 4.2L Trailblazer, 5W40 Delo is probably the thickest when it's cold, still fires right up at -10F out.

I’m using HPL CK-4 5w30 HDEO in few push mowers without issue. And the neighbors rider mower with a Fram ; no issues

I use 15w40 and 10w30 HDEO in pretty much everything with the exception of snowblowers which get whatever cheap name brand 5w30 I can find. I haven't used an SAE 30 in a long time.
