2012 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5 v6 just turned 70,000 miles
Was on the way to visit family about 170 miles away, and stopped after 60 miles for a quick pit stop and it wouldn't start. Spun over fast. Tried stepping on gas while cranking. Looked under hood, not sure what to look for, just tried wiggling battery cables and ground, everything tight and clean, and battery less than 2 years old.
After a half hour or so of trying, and called our family that is now a little over a hundred miles away to come and get us, I tried it again for the heck of it, and it started, but now the check engine light is on. Made it to our destination fine, and engine light still on. Turned engine off and it started right up.
Did a quick internet search and other than the common stuff like old battery and corrosion/ ground, it looks like something called Immobilizer key antenna can go bad and cause a random crank but no start issue, but not sure if that would cause the engine light to come on.
Anyone have any idea or suggestion what to look for? We don't have a scanner with, but thinking about buying one tomorrow. Might end up taking it to the dealer if they can get it in. Its not trustworthy right now. Plan on staying with family for a few days before going back home.
