Did you hear the news about Michael Vick? They have been talking about it on FOX News and also ESPN. The Feds apparently have strong evidence against him concerning the breeding and fighting of Pit Bulls and the killing of injured dogs and dogs that lost fights. It is my understanding that he has been formally charged.

What will this mean to the Atlanta Falcons? Will they have to pick up another quarterback? Vick of course is innocent unless proven guilty but if he does get find guilty he will not be available to the Falcons. In fact, even if he is found innocent this court case could take him off the field for this coming season.

The Falcons can't do anything right now with Vick unless he is found guilty. I don't think the NFL will suspend him either unless he is found guilty. But if I were running the Falcons I would be looking for another quarterback just in case. I think they lost their backup quarterback to free agency.

Hopefully the Falcons have poured some effort into working with D.J. Shockley. He has a similar playing style to that of Vic. He did rather decent with UGA as a back-up QB. If Vic is convicted [ doubt it ] or suspended, Aurther Blank will pull something out of his sleeve. Vic is a well known athlete, he will be fined a "drop in the bucket" and slaped on the wrist with community service, namely commercials for the humane society. "Take it from me... I might not know how to play a decent passing game, but I know animal abuse. Don't do it."

Stuntwise - Pretty much in the same league as the chick in jail, chick with no panties flashing and the dude with a gerbil up his canola….... money buys class. But it seems the more you pay the less you get.

Yeah........ WHO?

At several training camps for pit bulls they have found kittens that are fed live to the dogs. Not a good picture.

Michael Vick is a coach killer. The Falcons will never get a good coach as long as Michael is there. Maybe this will help the team in the long run.

+1 on that one. I wish they would put him into a cage with one of those Pits and the televise that on pay per view.

The stuff I am hearing about what was done with these dogs is beyond belief. If it is true I hope he gets convicted.

I cannot understand how somebody with a massive contract like Vick had and with all kinds of endorsement contracts from large companies would get involved with something like this. He certainly did not need the money. Apparently he simply liked it.

Now, he has not been found guilty. That needs to be underlined. But the Falcons better get Harrington ready or find another quarterback.

I am almost at the point where I can say goodbye to watching professional sports. There is way too much money and once there is too much money something bad happens to human beings. In the example of Vick if he is guilty he did not need this dog fighting stuff. Why would anybody want to watch Pit Bulls fight and kill each other? And then kill the dogs that lose. What kind of mentality is that?

I think I am nearly at the point where I can go for walks in the woods and as far as sports go maybe watch just regular people play softball or baseball. Maybe our society needs to be at that point.

I am so tired of these overpaid people and their ugly and evil life styles.

+1 on that one too. I used to love watching sports and sportscenter. Now there are so few athletes that deserve IMHO what they have. I wish that sports would change the way they pay their players. I would like to see a system that pays platers all the same for their position. So for example every center in the NBA would make X amount of dollars. But the TEAM that wins would make a whole lot more that would be split amongst the TEAM. The best players would still make more money than every one else because of endorsements. I think that would give them incentive again to win. I just dont see players wanting to win more than anything any more. I remember when players would cry when they lost in the playoffs. Now they can get swept and look almost just as happy as on the sidelines as the team that won. Sorry for the rant. Back to the real subject. If Michael Vick is found guilty I hope he gets what he deserves. I am biased though because I love my dogs.

A reported asked Vick if he was going to be exonerated. After a brief pause, exclaimed "No comment!" It wasn't clear he knew what "exonerated" meant.

I hope the allegations are not true. NPR reported injured dogs were wetted down and electrocuted.

Yes from what I have heard reported there were dogs that lost and got electrocuted and others were picked up and slammed onto the ground to death.

But notice you said "almost". You'll continue to watch and so will 99% of the fans. It really doesn't matter what these buffoons do.

I have given up watching some professional sports. I used to really be into car racing (Indy, Nascar), motorcycle racing, drag racing, etc. Something changed somehow and I really can't stand car racing anymore. In the case of drag racing I think I know what it was. There was a time a long time ago when a guy, maybe a college professor, could build a Top Fuel drag racer in his garage and race on on the weekends. Now it is all a big money deal. There are millions being spend on Top Fuel racers and everything has been studied to death. Somehow car racing seemed more exciting in the past. The only thing I like about modern car racing is the higher quality safety. Heck, a race track to the north of me I think is closed. They used to race even Indy cars there. Before all of that they raced quarter horses. I wish they would race the quarter horses there again. I hear Indy may go under. Nascar is still big but I just can't get into it. Regular cars and trucks look more interesting to me. So actually I can stop watching and vote with my feet.

The only sport I watch on TV all that much anymore is pro football. I will admit I have a hard time trying to stop watching pro football. I found myself enjoying the women's college softball games more than a lot of the other stuff on TV. Somehow the women's college softball games brought back memories of the way games were played in the past. Aside from football I can pretty much stop watching sports almost completely. I do sometimes watch the World Series.

I don't know how anybody could stand watching a basketball game on TV. Same thing with golf. Seems like a complete waste of time to me.
