I have been avid user of Motorcraft 5w20 in my 2 Mazda's and now I am noticing the oil having an odd, almost grease like smell when the bottles are opened and seems to get darker much faster than usual in normal usage. Has the fomula changed? Does anyone know the exact percentage of dino and syn? I have been told its almost a 50/50 blend, is there anything to back that up?

I don't know the answer to your question... But I too have noticed how quickly the oil turns dark.

I would like to also know the answer as to whether or not they've changed their formulation.

From what I've read here at BITOG a year or-so ago,, the less expensive Trop Artic base oil comes from Korea -- but the Motorcraft does not.

Maybe that's changed - being the new stuff is darkening up sooner. Ford Motor Company is so cash-strapped - that even the Motorcraft label may now be vulnerable to a less expensive base oil to cut costs - improve profits.

Just putting some thoughts out there -- nothing concrete.

....

I doubt it. I bought some full-synthetic MC 5W-20 for my mother's Taurus and I thought it said "Made in Korea."

It could be as our engines age, the oil gets darker faster.
But I also have noticed faster darkening with MC 5-20.
It used to be clear for so long!
But maybe this is a good thing - more cleaning?
