Generally, most any engine feels better on synthetic. Many still have a fear of switching, due to "Synthetic will carry away sludge that may have been sealing leaks and therefore 'cause' leaks." This is something many SAY is not true, though plenty have had it happen and are weary.
You could say Synthetic is more "Slippery" which will get a
from here. However, in super layman's terms, it seems to make many an engine run smoother.
Favorite synthetics seem to be: Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Red Line and.or Royal Purple (lesser names,) AMSOIL, and HDEOs.
It should also be noted that you do not NEED a Synthetic as Conventional oil particularly PYB (Pennzoil Yellow Bottle) heck even SuperTech or Havoline (no more Texaco) is fine, its hard to find an Oil that will NOT pass muster, though different engines may and sometimes do act differently on different brands. BITOG will show you this.
If your engine has an uncertain history, keep an eye on it. (Level and leaks, plus Butt dyno and no smokes are how you pass the test if you are an Oil.)
As to the noise and thats how you know there is an engine.. yeah, thats an MR2! Fiero twin, or at least co-developed IIRC
OP WildBillC, Please re-read my post about what NOT to do that i did with my Probe, a 94 LX. If it runs good, it will continue to do so. Mine still runs just needs TLC and some "Inspection" ...... however, simpler seems to be better and i demonstrated that with my assault of cleaners. Didnt kill it. Just made me wonder. Still comin out dirty, too.
Do not do this to your Fiero err MR2. I heard the Oil filter is a PITA to get to on your car.
Now. Get the right Oil (Any Mobil is likely Fine you know the grade he put in?,) Get in that classic MR2, and
