Does filtration enter into this? If so, it's running a 3 um bypass system, which also adds oil capacity.

7802 miles or 9 months
Filtration does not play into my equation.

Assuming you want to test this, would you be interested to know that I am already 4K miles past that and that I had oil analysis done at 10K miles that gave a green light to go farther? Not sure what the calculator takes into account but here is are the results.

Code:
Code:

Element Virgin 10K UOA (zero values not listed)

Iron- 1 19

Aluminum- 2 2

Copper- 0 3

Silicon- 0 8

Sodium- 2 1

Potassium- 4 1

Moly- 0 10

Boron- 2 2

Magnesium- 8 73

Calcium- 2642 1829

Phosphorus- 1174 861

Zinc- 1307 985

Viscosity- 11.7 10.7

TAN- NA 2.68

TBN- 7.7 3.72

Oxidation- 9 14

Nitration- 4 11

^^Well im impressed! The corrected TBN that your provided makes it 8255 miles or 9 months. Factoring in the bypass setup you have, i get 11017 or 13 months, but im assuming you could go longer than that.

ok Lets try this again 06 Chevy Silverado 5.3 v8 VWB 5w30
Chevy Monte Carlo SS 3.8 v6 VWB 10w30

Thanks for the reply!

Wow! With G-Oil's UOA results in other engines, I was planning to change at 7500 miles/4 months.

G-Oil has a pretty high TBN, its synthetic, and your engine is easy on oil.

Hmm, Can I try? MB in my sig with current fill? 8.5 qt sump.
I want to try Maxlife 10w-40 classic 4q and 5q of Nextgen Maxlife next, they should be same TBN, Then Castrol GTX HM 10w-40
Bimmer want to try Mag1 5w-40 Euro, then All fleet, and Lubro Moly Top Tec 4100 5w-40, Them Motul Specific LL-04 5w-40. Same 8.5 q sump, but may fill it with 9q same as MB.

Good try on the formula as well! You got 2 parts correct

It was the sump x ??? wasn't it?

^^ Sump x TBN gives you the relative amount of additive in the engine. Those are just two numerical variables I use.

Back in the day, TooSlick came up with a pretty good formula. It took displacement, HP, TBN, sump, and MPG into account, among other things.

Interesting, it would seem like MPG would be pretty relative to the car. Which would mean he would have to factor in the EPA city/highway for said car. I wonder if he factored in horsepower per liter, cause that would be relative as well. A 505hp 7.0L V8 would be significantly less abusive than a 300hp turbo 1.8L Integra.

Interesting... Maybe instead of my "force-induction" factor, i could use a HP/L factor...

Lets pretend I do 80% highway driving.

Yes. The average MPG you're expecting to achieve over the course of the OCI helps account for things like city/hwy driving, or driving short distances in cold climates - all of these affect MPG, and the more fuel you burn over the same distance, the more severe the service. The OLM in my 530i is based on amount of fuel burned alone.

Here's more info on TooSlick's formula:
