Dent on oil filter

There's nothing going on inside the filter at that location where it's dented. Use it.

He did use it and has since changed the oil and filter again. This is the problem with resurrected threads.

Speaking of filter dents, it's the dents with a sharp edge/crease that are most risky. The small pulsations in the oiling system can fatigue/crack that kind of dent and cause a leak.
