Ah yes. I knew I'd seen that AA somewhere, but I was too lazy to open a bunch of boxes in my stash.

The photo of the TRD above looks like all the holes in the base plate are the same size to me.

Ya they are. I mention the hole punching and gasket mount are the only difference I can see. It's for sure a Champ Labs in either case.

Looked like the hole @6:00 was larger...guess it was just the pic.

Looks like some do come with 8 holes...I think this is a TRD Scion filter:

Nice pics!
They do have a few part numbers in this "K&N style" series that cover almost all Toyota products. I haven't seen any first hand but the ones I have.

I just bought two densos from amazon, about $7 each including shipping.
The cartoon on the box said they had torque limiters (looked like pins or bumps to prevent over tightning) but my filters did not have any. they were oiled and sealed with o ring gaskets

are wix filters ever on sale?

I think what they mean by "torque limiter" is that the "P-ring" compresses completely until the outer base circumference edge of the can makes contact with the seat. When the can hits the seat, it's on all the way and doesn't require any more torque.

With a filter that has the conventional flat "O-ring", you can over torque them past 1 turn, which will cause them to lock-up big time when it comes time to remove them.

The torque limiter is the gasket holder ring on some--no bumps.
I've bought Toyota-Denso 90915-YZZD1 filters from some dealers as cheap as $4.

I never see Wix on sale around my town.

O'Reilly's.
Or go to NAPA and get a NAPA Gold--their top line filter. It's the same thing. Just drop the 5 off the beginning of the numbet, e.g. Wix 51516 becomes a NAPA Gold 1516.

Around here auto zone and advance don't carry wix. But Oriely does and they are not a private local part house. Also, you can buy a NAPA Gold which is basically the same thing.
