Denso filters

OEM Toyota (Purolator?) and Honda A02's (Fram) are all I get from the "dealerships" here anymore. I've had it with OEM.

Are the DENSO filters I find on-line Japanese made or elsewhere? Are the worth the mail order compared to local NAPA GOLD and PURE ONE?

FINALLY, Is there a link to getting real Japanese Toyo Roki, etc. filters?

Union Sangyo's are pretty cheap on ebay. Sold under the name Nippon. They seem to be pretty good.

They are great OEM filters. They are the A01 part number for Honda. Filtech is the US susb. of Toyo Roki.

OEM Toyota filters until very recently were made by Denso in Japan (sitting on 3 cases of the now discontinued 90915-20004's) the Denso's now sold in the US are made in Thailand and lack a lot of the Japanese features, including the unusual media. Thailand made Denso's are well made but I don't think the are worth the much higher price you pay for an OEM filter.

Japanese Denso's, including the 20004 are supposedly still available in Japan for about 2000 yen a piece ($18)

There is a Nippon filter with the same part number running around, have not looked at it yet.

I've been interested in trying a Denso filter on my Acura RSX but so few people have feedback on them. Their webpage is somewhat interesting...

Very informative post.

Sounds like Denso is pulling a Bosch move where all of the sudden the finely made German or Japanese part is now a lesser quality part made someplace where the QC isn't as strict. Probably does nice things for their bottom line though.

Toyota filters are also made in the USA though. I only paid $4 for my 90915-YZZA2, and I'm pretty sure that one is a Purolator.
