Demont Wilson has passed away at the age of 79.....He played Lamont in Sanford and Son....better known as ...You Big Dummy....I still watch the show and love it.....

I loved that show.
His first name was Demond. His character name was Lamont Sanford.
I am often taken aback when actors and actresses I used to watch decades ago die as older folks. Can't picture him as 79. Then, I look in the mirror. I also look nothing like I did when Sanford and Son was in its initial production.

A Vietnam veteran and tv pioneer. A life well lived. RIP Mr Wilson.
I only seen a few reruns of the show but it seemed Lamont always had common sense and tried to explain and correct his father's dumb actions.
Just yesterday, I was telling a 35-year-old co-worker about this show; one of my all-time favorites. He had never heard of it. Crazy.
Red Foxx wasn't acting, just being himself. Aunt Esther was the spice of the show. RIP Lamont, you were the greatest foil of all time.
I used to watch that show all the time and loved it. RIP.
It was a favourite for me. There were two other shows like it. All in the Family and don’t forget Chico and the Man.
Yeah, Demond was definitely the strait man on that show.
Another character that I loved was Grady.
Loved the interaction between Fred and Aunt Esther.

Some actual real names of the cast are interesting. Redd Fox's real name was John Elroy "Sanford". Demond Wilson's actual full name was "Grady" Demond Wilson. Bubba Bexley was played by Don Bexley. Although the characters Fred, Grady and Bubba appeared to be around the same age, there was a big difference in their birth years. Bubba- 1910, Fred 1922 and Grady 1930. I aways found that to be very interesting. Another interesting facts, Whtman Mayo who played Grady actually passed away at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta and was an adjunct professor at Clark Atlanta University and taught drama.

It seems like that's a dying business. I had a friend in middle school and high school that had an aviation "parts business " which I think was more scrap than actual airplane parts.
