WCW cut one open this morning, made in Germany. The media is as “holey” as it gets. I think of why, since they are an old time filter maker and know what it is.From a construction standpoint, Hengst filters generally are much better. The main problem with Hengst IMHO, is that they are very tight to non existent on giving out any specs on the filter media in terms of efficiency ratings. I would still given the chance, pick Hengst made filter over any M&H USA derived made filter
That really does not bother me if it is a rock catcher for media. What bothers me is the propensity for M&H USA filters to be torn on their media negating any better efficiency they may have.WCW cut one open this morning, made in Germany. I had Evan England from Mann Hummel reach out on Friday in response to my call to their Tech Department. I was at work and couldn't call back at a reasonable time, so I'm planning to reach out on Monday to see what he has to say. hopefully it's not the brash reply that you had.I spent a lot of time yesterday gathering photos from BITOG. I then sent them the photos and an email stating that the defects are a known issue, not only on online forums but are shown in many YouTube videos as well. I also made it clear, it's a defect regardless of what they try to say. I said it's your responsibility to take corrective action or continue to lose customers.
Only response is what I posted above.

ive been running them for a couple years , never checked , never knew , ones on shelf dont look quite as bad but dont look good after shinning a light in , i will definatly be cutting one apartSo, makes me wonder how many of these "louvered" filters are closed off, yet installed at all the quick lube places, causing the filter to basically be in bypass the entire OCI........Customer would probably never know....
I would never, ever, use one.
I assume you are at work or leaving soon, just wondering about the contact and tear apartI had Evan England from Mann Hummel reach out on Friday in response to my call to their Tech Department. That’s what I’m running on my Express with the HPL EC 30 added-~$8-11% rebate-$5 Puro rebate. Louvers looked good in mine (PL22500, slight oversize). So tonight I was at Menards. I decided to take a look at the PureOne oil filters. Thanks to ZeeOSix, I used my trusty flashlight on my phone and checked the louvers for the very first timeThis filter I was looking at had some good-looking louvers.
Girlfriend just gave me a strange look.
I said, " it's a quality check ".
Any update?I have not heard anything back yet, if I have not heard anything by COB tomorrow I'll chop one up!
Spoke to Evan at Mann Hummel on Thursday and discussed the issue I saw in the filters. He had me send an e-mail to him with pictures of the date codes and center tubes. He asked that I not throw the filters away until I hear back from him as he was going to forward to engineering. If they had stock of the same date code/lot on the shelf to pull and inspect, they wouldn't need my filter(s) back. If not, they would send a call tag to get them to engineering. I also ordered a few other brands in this size from Rock to chop up for the group, hopefully as a comparison to this WL10332. Will advise when I hear more.Any update?
