Dealership oil recommendation switcheroo

imagine listening to anything a dealership is saying when regarding a service they're trying to get you to pay for and how frequently. Also to get their cost of ownership nonsense they extend the oci and imply full syn 99% of the time but dont want to say that explicitly then they start their upselling scheme selling conventional every 3k, syn blend every 5k and full syn every 7k and if you ask about 10k they say to use synthetic and to follow whatever the olm says first.

The dealer is trying to make money and that's the only thing that motivates them to charge so much for conventional. Also they have gdi turbo and port injected na engines so they're trying to keep things as clueless and uninvolved consumer friendly as possible by just having one singular number in each tier that is gonna be safe for all of them. 3k in either an Na Pi engine or turbo gdi is gonna be fine.

There are still shops (dealers, quick-change, etc) that indicate 3000 mile oil changes on the window stickers they put in people's cars. It's all about making money as you say. There's certainly no harm to the vehicle in following that either but the corporate level (i.e. the automaker) isn't going to like that or endorse it.

There's people on this board using full synthetic on a 3k oci!
