What do you think about daylight savings? I strongly feel that if one were to take into account all of the time and money spent changing clocks and timers, missing appointments and connections, and all of the other confusion and distraction, this practice probably costs more than it saves.

Personally, I never could grasp the need for daylight savings time.

I heard a story of an American Indian who, once told about daylight savings time, equated it to someone cutting off six inches from the top of a blanket an sowing it to the bottom of the blanket, to keep his feet covered.

It's been around since the days of Benjamin Franklin, so I imagine there is some substance to the concept of daylight savings time.

I prefer more light in the evening. I would prefer not to fall back in the fall. Keep in mind where you live vs someone else. There is more daylight during the summer in Bismark, North Dakota vs due south in Texas.

It's Daylight Saving not savings; that bugs me more than anything. They just need to keep it how it is now. I hate the dark.

Yes i agree, leave the clocks alone now. I dont see the point in having less light..especially in winter when its already depressing out.

Personally, I prefer light in the evening.

Set the clocks so the sun rises at 10am.

But seriously, I wonder how many tired kids from the time change are run over the Monday after the time change by drivers who are exhausted from the time change.

If hour changes benefit your industry, let the employer make a time change. It isn't my business.

As an office worker, I don't see the Sun in the morning or in the evening, a bit jelly of the people that inconvenience society so they benefit from more sunlit hours. Good for them.

Exactly! There may have been a reason for it back in Ben's day, but not anymore.

If that is the issue, change school start times seasonally. Doing time changes universally is just stupid.

^ nah the farmers hate it!

I work in TV and it's illegal to run adult themed shows before 9 or 10pm. All the "good writing" for Law & Order etc means it has to air so late kids won't watch it. And it ends at 11pm (eastern) which leaves adults bleary eyed.

If people didn't stay up so late, they'd be up with the sun and it'd all be mox-nix.

Even though we all have amazon streaming etc enough people schedule their lives around TV, and TV schedules around ninnies and their rules, we have this DST nonsense.

Oddly, somewhere in Iowa does something weird with time zones and daylight time, and the local affiliate just across the time zone border airs adult themed shows "too early" and the Parents Television Council finds a token chump there to "watch" said shows and take offense and complain.

I think changing school times seasonally would create many more problems than just changing the clocks.

I like more light in the evening, so its not dark when I leave in the morning and dark when I come home, like during the winter. It allows me to actually get some yard work done after work.

Frankly, I don't see what is so confusing to people about changing a dang clock. If you can't remember to change a clock and make your appointments/work meetings on time than you have other issues.

John

If we do then why are the roads deserted at 2 AM?

No one in Ben Franklin's time knew about human biorhythms.

Daylight savings time is a stupid practice.

But it may have fit our world for a couple of centuries.

Time for daylight savings to go.
