David Lee Roth announces he is retiring

DLR was the ultimate front man for VH. Their earlier stuff was great too, ( late 70's). He wasn't the best singer, always had back up vocals helping, but what a friggin HAM. I saw them all together on their last tour in Long Island, NY. 2 nights in a row. Tickets were only $120 for ground level , 10 rows back. This was 20 yrs ago. DLR was strugglin. EVH was phenomenal !!! He was a true genius on lead. Alot of people knocked Sammy for taking over front man. He did a great job too. Yes, I live in NY. They did a spot on the news with him riding a City Ambulance as a Certified EMS. That was all true. The 80's was a FANTASTIC decade for all music. Glad I was there for all of it. Saw Rush in 1982 in Radio City Music Hall. Neil Peart was just amazing. I could go on, and on, Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses. Metallica, Ozzy, Motor Head, Just a fun decade that I'm proud to have been a part of.

Dang, I’m kind of jealous of all those awesome bands you got to see in their prime. (y) 🎸

I liked hearing Sammy Hagar more. But for a show, David Lee Roth was a much better showman, and stage performer, knew how to work the crowd. Also seemed less stuck on himself than Sammy. Sammy was great though.

So much for retirement. Roth has tour dates all this month and plays at the Hard Rock Casino here on my birthday. I'm on tour myself this month (vacation then business) otherwise I'd be tempted to go see him. Never got to see him with VH but I did see Sammy and that was a great show.
