Its a cheap zmodo 4*720p IP cam system.

They are digital and the box is basically a NVR (network video recorder)

much better than analog 720p systems.

I saw a better NVR with 8 channels, comes with 4 1080p cameras for about $200
you need to add your own hdd.. and a 2tb WD purple series is about $80

If you really want a good picture they have 4k (2160p) cameras now but they are still pretty pricey.

This one is a good basic system

$249
IR wont work through windows so if you want night IR vision you need to mount outside.

A WD Green HDD works just as well for slightly cheaper.

I wouldn't say Just as well. esp for 8 or more IP camera systems.

You are looking at economy hdd for $65
or one purposely sold as a surveillance hdd for $80.

The generic units are usually supplied with either a WD green or seagate 7200.xx hdd
in the 9 units I maintain the org. hdd failed between 1-2 years in 5 of the 9.

So far using replacement purple drives I have only had to replace one.. which was in warranty.

All the units over 3 years old have had the HDD replaced except one that came with a WD Black.
