Since you are in Canada, wonder if you'd have to pay duty when they shipped them back. At around $16 a pair online, no sure what they go for up here, for 10 pairs that's going to be close to $200 with the taxes.

If I only had one pair of darn tough, they'd be darn smelly by Friday afternoon. ;-P

I bought a pair of their merino wool socks not long ago, so I can't tell yet how easy they are to wear out. I only use mine for biking.

I'm going to look into getting a few pair.
I bet most online retailers will not ship to Canada, or if they do, they'll want something like $60 for shipping and pre-paid Duty :-(

Still, $30 for a pair of socks is a bit extreme.

I paid $18 for mine, and I thought that was a bit much, too. Will probably not buy any more. I just wanted to see what all the fuss is about, and at this point I think the fuss is about nothing.

The one I was talking about says "Free Shipping". I picked a Canadian address and went all the way to check out and it did not apply any shipping charges.

I'm really hard on socks, for some reason. There's a store that sells 'em near me, but their website shows only the outdoor and activewear socks, not the "dress" mid-calf ones. Still, $20 for a pair of socks that are actually comfortable, breathable, and won't wear out in a few weeks: not bad . . .

I'm sure these DT socks will still wear out, and if you want DT to send you a replacement pair, they'll charge you shipping. For the price of shipping, you could have bought another pair of regular socks locally, I'm sure.

It's all about marketing.
