He was such a great actor! He was a native Canadian, born on the Six Nations Reserve in Ohsweken, Ontario (just 65km from where I live) and he died in Stratford Ontario (which is just 68km from me). This one really hits home for me

Also played a great villain in the Longmire series more recently.
He received the Lifetime Artistic Achievement Award from the Governor General of Canada just back in June. He was well appreciated in Canada. Also he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for Dances with Wolves but lost to Joe Pesci in Good Fellas.

I definitely remember his work in Maverick, where he was pretty much playing a scam artist selling native experiences to wealthy tourists.

I remember him from Maverick, Die hard and the Green Mile. He's one of those actors you see once and you never forget. I haven't seen dances with wolves in over 30 years.
