DAILY Oil Changes

Big bore motocross bikes commonly get an oil change every half dozen races or so. That could be daily, depending on how busy the racing is on a particular day.

It was every day for over a week, then a few times per week. Commute was about 80 miles round trip.

If I remember correctly, the oil change was $16 and parking was $45. :ROFLMAO:
That is a bit (very) excessive, but presuming this was back in the leaded-gas/conventional-oil days, I found my engines got dirty with 3,000-mile oil changes, and cleaned up nicely with 2,000-mile changes.

I almost always went with Quaker State 10W-30 and a Fram filter.

Safaris with multiple drivers, bad gas, lots of dust. I think that is what they had in mind.
The only situation that could justify such a requirement would be extremely deep river crossings where the engine is ingesting some water. Or dirt bypassing the air filter in a desert driving scenario.
That is what I'm thinking--but then the manual should have something about changing all the other fluids, no?

Well, other fluids don't have an air filter that can introduce dirt, not such high temperatures. And transmission fluid won't be as easy to change. I bet there is a transmission cooler there.

True, I'm thinking of older equipment, manual everything, where water can get in, especially if breather tubes get damaged. As a 2004 I'm not sure but it's probably an automatic? Maybe all the breathers are designed to be way up high for fording.

Still, I'd think water intrusion might be a concern. But I guess it depends on the actual usage.

What everyone is missing here is if the vehicle is being driven on Venus, one day is equal to 243 earth days, which could easily reach OCI mileage. You see, Range Rover considered all possibilities.

Then there are engines that never get an oil change, and I would suppose even if damage occurs and metal is introduced.
It is likely the best kept motor oil there is.

At least it used to be the norm as far as I know.
