D1 / Gen 2 Rated Oils : Cleaning Ability ?

I seem to remember Valvoline makes one one that was developed for Caterpillar that supposedly cleans the ring lands and its quite pricey by US standards.
No idea I never tried it but if the need arises I will if nothing else to compare it to M1 0w40 which I know for a fact works very well at cleaning up old deposits and varnish.
It has to be on something that the pan is real easy to remove, I think I have just the car a 2.0 slow in a Mk IV.

I believe SOPUS has another SB that's a D1G2 lube under the QS label. SOPUS is the only one that I know of that has blends carrying Dexos approvals... but it's a big universe out there so who knows, there could be others that I haven't run across....

(and I'm a little perplexed as to "why" they do this? It's price point puts it right around some very solid all grp3 oils... maybe having a Grp2 dino component instead of all grp3 imparts some desirable property (ies)?? Or maybe it saves SOPUS money on additives/addy treat rates?)

Valvoline durablend (blue bottle) is also dexos1g2 and sn+.

*In my case , all vehicles have been using synthetic oils most of their existence at OCI's less than normal service schedule ( Gen 2 rated oils) .

Can't find it anywhere in brick & mortar stores. Amazon wants almost $45 for 6. Menards used to have it. But it's discontinued now.
Big chains here only sell 5w30 Valvoline High Mileage Syn Blend now. It's SN Plus, but no Dexos cert.

No biggie. I'll order some Pennzoil Gold from Walmart.com. Only need for one OCI. Then at 3-4K, I'll switch to full synthetic. Wife's Kia currently sits at 1.1K on the odometer and we've owned the new vehicle for almost 3.5 months now.

I want the factory-fill gone. Swore I smelled fuel on the dipstick. She does real short trips - idles a-lot and remote-starts for 20 minutes. I tried teaching her, but she turns a deaf ear.

Agreed.
I used Pennzoil Gold 0W20 SN+ D1G2
in a 2018 Tacoma 2.7L 4 Cylinder,
and found it to be a remarkable oil.

That caught me off guard as well. I looked up the msds and found that it has a CCS in line with Platinum and UP despite having a higher cst. May have to keep an eye out for some and give it a go.

Castrol oil is a lower tier oil with regards to cleanliness? Don't know about that. My M54 at 100k miles, 5k changes.

Nice clean engine. I agree, regular OC with high quality synthetic does a nice job. Here's mine after 97k (.05 330ic ZHP). I run MI1 for the 1st 50k, then changes to Pennzoil every 6k miles.

I put brand new heads on a GM 3.4, the guy ran VWB 3K OCI and after 2 years it was a mess with varnish and deposits. Franks (demarpaint) Buick had religious 3K OCI by his dad and it looked like crap also on dino, I also saw that with my own eyes.
I have not run dino in anything for over 30 years and never will again.
*Same thing happened to me with VWB dino and 3K OCI's . My old Ford Escort and Dodge Caravan engines were surprisingly nasty using dino and 3K OCI's .
