Cybertruck experience...

When I see one of them blasting through a big mudhole on the way to the Deer camp , THEN I'll call it a truck . Maybe mount a Warn winch on the front ... :ROFLMAO:

I think I will now, and forever, picture all Cybertruck drivers blasting "Right Here, Right Now" by Fatboy Slim on repeat, constantly.

Driving my wife to the airport last week I pointed one out to her on the highway. She giggled the rest of the trip. She did not like it but it really made a impression on her. People buy them who like to get noticed.

Not exactly. I'm not sure how it hot the rating that it has, but apparently the hitch can only handle 160 lbs of vertical weight before the bumper falls off, which is less than a Prius.
People are sure getting some mileage out of that Whistlin’ Diesel video after he slammed the frame on concrete and managed to crack or rip it.

I’m not defending the truck per se, but there were extenuating circumstances.

They are actually started to do a bit of work - owners can run small welding units from them …
Makes me wonder why the Ford Pwerboost isn't more popular with workers like that. 7.2KW on onboard 240v power yet no worries about running the battery down. And far cheaper than a CT.

Isn’t the Powerboost still almost as expensive? Not only that but for the Powerboost Hybrid the engine has to be left running the whole time for higher current draws.

The Ford also doesn’t weigh enough for the commercial tax credit.

I priced one out for just under $50k when I was seriously looking at one a few months ago..

As for the engine running, you'd have to be using almost all 7.2kw constantly for it to be running. If you're doing that kind of welding, you're toting a real gas powered welder with you, not something you plug in.

So I buzz over to the Saratoga Post Office an hour ago to drop off an important letter. Leaving I hold the door for a few folks; one guy walks over to a Cybertruck...
"Hey! Nice Cybertruck! How do you like it?" He sez, "Get in."

The thing is spacious and the seats are very good. I asked if I could ask a few pointed questions; he said sure.
Q: "Why would anyone buy this thing, especially for $100 large plus the governor's tax, etc?" A: "I liked the angular shape and wanted an electric vehicle." I said, "You have to agree when it 1st came out no one knew whether Elon was kidding or not..." He laughed, "Yeah."
Q: "Did you buy it as a leisure vehicle, cuz you wanted it, or as a truck?" A: "Both. It replaced my Ridgeline." I wasn't ready for this answer; I was pleasantly surprised.
Q: "Why would you spend $100K on this?" A: "It was actually $80K Dual Motor, not the "Founder's Edition or Cyberbeast with 3 motors."
Q: "Do you like it?" A: "I love it. Go drive one."

I mentioned the drive-by-wire steering; he cranked the wheel 180* and said, "Look at the back wheel." I already knew about the 4 wheel steering.
He said he may wrap it and put bigger tires on, "There's too many out there..."

Tucker Carlson got one for a couple of weeks up in Maine. He and some good ole boys rode it hard doing everything. Heavy towing, doing spin outs in a gravel pit. and so on. They were surprised that they really liked it. It did everything well.

Wouldn't count on it. Starts whimpering when it sees its first blade of grass, 4x4 capability is beyond miserable.

Only Elon would drop this trash on an unsuspecting public.

IMO people buying it are trying to make a statement, what statement? That has me scratching my head, I'll keep my thoughts on what I think the statement is to myself. ;) But hey if you can afford it and you like it go for it.

I would expect a Ridgeline owner to like a Cybertruck. Me, being a hardcore diesel guy, never.....unless its diesel electric like a train....

Yep real truck owners arent buying that thing

It is a status symbol. Instead of driving a normal car or truck you can afford to drive this 3 ton monstrosity. Yes, there are more expensive cars, but not many this attention grabbing.

Musk also said that if anybody gets in an accident with you, you automatically win in a cybertruck. It is meant to give you a sense of safety in an hostile world. I have a cybertruck get out of my way. It should give you the sense of being unstoppable.

It also shows that you believe in technological progress and advancement of mankind through science and technology. By driving a cybertruck you are literally in a time-machine to the future, driving in Mars colonialization vehicle, while everyone else around you is in the 19th century, getting pulled by a defecating horse.

Yeah, that's kinda why I asked him the reason he bought it. Politely, but he knew what I meant. A real easy going guy, but he lived in Saratoga, and that is pricey real estate. I will say he seemed to really enjoy his CT; ear-to-ear smiles... It is big and heavy, but is very nimble, as I understand. He said as much, after he got used to the drive-by-wire and 4 wheel steering.

By the way, lotsa vehicles are status symbols. My 2001 Tundra is probably more of a truck than most of the big dollar Bro Dozers on the road today.

The Cybertruck has so many recalls and atrocious build quality, and I don't mean oh the first few still. Just wait till it bricks itself, parts fall off etc as many have had happen. He can love it but the facts show it's not well engineered. Early 60's Ferraris are awesome but need constant adjustment and frequent tune ups, just part of the beast.
Per torque news "A Cybertruck owner says he was informed by Tesla that his brand-new truck experienced a critical failure as he was on his way to take delivery. Despite this, he decided to buy the fixed “new” truck, and he’s now questioning his decision." I don't get these goobers.
