It looks like Purolator has fixed the base inlet holes. It looks as if there are no cuts in the ADBV.

Just potting material (glue).

I think what you are seeing is potting material. It does appear to go up higher than typical but whether that is intentional or not is anyones guess.

Not sure about the metal crimp this is the first one I've cut open. It is a short FL400S and the 400S does not have a metal crimp, at least so far.
