FRAM Force 9688 new oil filter cut open

My last c&p was a used 9688 and it didn’t look very good so I figured I’d cut a new one open.

You put the leaf spring on the top instead of the bottom of the filter.

Thanks for the c&p. Picked up 9 of these for ~$20 from AAP close out for my daughter’s Santa Fe and was thinking of cutting one open myself before using. I’ll be happy to use these for her usual 4-5k mile OCI.

Looks OK. I just swapped out a PH7317 off my son’s ‘07 K24 Accord after 6500 miles, it looked uneventful other than a fair amount of carbon in the lower pleats. Didn’t bother posting it because the orange can is going bye-bye…

Yeah, on a filter with fiber end caps the leaf spring needs to be put back in the exact location it was in (the impression it left) before it was cut open.

That leaf spring looks pretty smooth. Date code is the 47th day of 2023.

The metal end cap E-Core version of this model was way better than the classic fiber end cap one. I would not trust it either.
