Cut open a few filters

"I just use a dremel with a disc and cut about 1/2 inch below the seam.

I should get a oil filter cutter since I've done so many, but too cheap!"


Just what I was thinking about. Thanks!

This is true only in the sense that the thickness is the the SOLE indicator of filtering and flow. However, it is ONE of the indicators. All other things being equal, I'll take the filter with the thicker media over a filter with a thinner media.
 
Look carefully at the Pro select picture of the element with the light shining through it...there are holes large enough to pass big dirt particles.
I wouldn't touch one of those!
 
Yeah, i could try. No guarantees though, if i remember correctly purolators are tough to get open. I'm a little busy right now since im moving out of state, so maybe in a few days or so. No $$ either, thanks though.
