This wasn't planned. Duster has been at a body shop most of the winter getting fixed. Hyundai died a couple weeks ago-hit a hard bump and the rear axle beam cracked. I knew I needed to replace my Hyundai-it had 213,000 miles and was rusty-but I was hoping it would last a bit longer. Currently driving a rental Chevy Trax ( (n) ) and frantically searching for a car. The flake factor is REALLY high, unfortunately.

Don't take this the wrong way but you can easily get a same car today if you are OK with going to a dealership not going private party. Depends what you're looking for and what your budget is, of course, and what type of vehicle you're looking for.

Plenty of lease return used EVs flooding the market... prices are great. Hybrids seem to be holding their value due to gas prices going up. What kind of vehicle are you looking for?

Another Challenger. 6-speed 392 car, no sunroof. Looked at several, hoping to buy this weekend.

I think you had your crystal ball 🔮 when you joined. Your handle seems to resemble this very incident. Hope you find what you want to get back on the road. Sounds like you're in a rust prone area?

Anything past 200,000 miles "is a gift". JMHO.

I did 185k on a neon, but I was a poor HS/college student. Never again! Sold it to a guy I ran into from time to time, last I saw him he was at 225k.

Also carless at the moment, sold my car and driving a spare minivan from work.

I’m not normal, but I have a backup car for situations like this. This makes sense for someone like me because I drove old beaters. My newest car is a 2005.

I wouldn’t recommend my strategy to people who are not mechanically inclined.

Sometimes a new economy car makes sense, as long as you’re willing to keep it long term, keep being the key word.
