That’s called an “Appeal to Ignorance Fallacy”

It works both ways. Until proven otherwise, oil is not oil.
No.... If you're claiming that one oil that meets the same specs as the rest is better than they are, then the burden of proof lies on YOU.

Just because we can't prove that your oil isn't better doesn't make it actually true. That burden of proof lies on you to show it to be so.

It's "Russell's Teapot" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell's_teapot) just for oil.

YOU are also making a claim. Because you can’t prove oil is oil and performs exactly the same. Show me the study. Approvals are a minimum or a range.

Again I have always stated it’s engine and driving conditions dependent. Oil A left deposits in multiple engines, oil B removed all deposits and kept the engines clean eliminating oil consumption. Not a scientific study but observable data. Would you go back to oil A or continue using oil B?

Wow. You really aren't getting this.

If you make a claim that any specific anything is different from the rest, the burden of proof is on you to prove it.

Just because nobody else can disprove your claim doesn't make it true.

In this case, you're claiming some oils are better than others. Therefore you need to prove that it is the case. Proof typically requires a degree of rigor beyond anecdotal evidence and opinion, because nobody can disprove an opinion or anecdote.

And just because nobody can disprove your anecdote (what you're calling my "claim"), that doesn't make what you're saying true.

You're welcome to believe what you like. But I the absence of actual measurable evidence and data proving your point, I'm equally entitled to think it's unsupported ******** and hearsay.

Wow you’re something else. This was your claim.

“You do know that it's pretty likely that with modern engines, the rest of the car will fall apart around the engine anyway, no matter what oil you use?”

This sir is simply bad advice. If taken seriously one may not make the change to another brand that can improve or alleviate oil consumption. It’s a disservice to the community IMO. Many here in the last couple years have eliminated or greatly reduced oil consumption by changing to a different oil if you haven’t noticed.

Just take the L, man. Glenda is right here.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or AMSOIL Signature Series either in 0w-20 or 5w-30,,and to note AMSOIL Signature Series 0w30 is noticeably a great oil.and I would run these oils over Mobil 1. euro oils they are mostly formulated for EURO specs.
