Since Photobucket went south, Ive not been posting many photos other than through the self-hosting on here, which works pretty well.

Id like to post some pics to another forum, and its not clear what works best currently.

I tried imgur for something, it was simple enough to post anonymously, so I signed up for an account. It has issues. For example, after submitting photos, I can see the "album" but I cannot add photos. At least on the iphone app, firefox or chrome on the computer.

The app is also sort of lousy. You cant easily get links for img code or even the URL itself. And every URL needs to be amended with an "l" in order to get an appropriate size for the picture displayed.

Is there a simpler/better photo hosting site someplace? I dont want to submit photos to a photostream or whatever imgur does with them. I just want to be able to upload and share photos on forums using easy to copy img code.

Recommendations?

After Photobucket, I settled on Flickr. It's probably not the easiest to just upload and share, but it does not resize/recompress your images and does not strip out EXIF data, if you wish to preserve it.

There is an "Add to album" button on Imgur that makes this easy to do.

No. I mean this:

You choose the album from the dropdown, and then drag and drop images onto this page.

I found an old image of mine on photobucket that just came back to life. I wonder if they got over that $395 extortion idea.

Sorry Piratebucket... I'm gone.. there is an old saying for this

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me" You wont be receiving my trust (or photos) again.

I take it you're looking for a free one? Smugmug bought flickr. I've had an account on there for years. Unlimited photo storage. Just gotta pay every year.

OK Im getting warmer...

So apparently I shared my first album to "the gallery", so its locked and I cant add photos?

So what's the correct methodology here? Upload photos and make it a private album so it doesnt publish? Then I can add photos at will?

And I can do that with as many albums as desired?

I still cant seem to find how to get the URLs from the iphone app... Need to mess with that a bit more.

Thanks!!!

+1. From the link, there is new management, but the photos are only liberated for a time:

Quote:
For a limited time, our current customers’ hosted images have been restored and Photobucket is introducing a new pricing plan that is built around everyone’s needs.

In an effort to improve our customers’ experience, we’ve also moved away from an advertising-based model and have eliminated a portion of ads from the site.

Photobucket pioneered the image sharing and hosting market 15 years ago, and our new management team is committed to returning Photobucket to the premier imaging service people had come to know and trust.

Not really sure. All my albums are classified as "Secret" and I have been able to add to them and share links to the images without any problem.

As for the Imgur phone app, I've never used it. I know Flickr phone app is a major PITA for sharing direct links to images.

tinypic.com

I've got pictures on here from years ago. No account, just upload and copy and paste the link. Easy as cake.
