I am preparing for my next OC in my wife's '06 Malibu Maxx. The car has been a Pennzoil car with the current fill of PP that will be due for a change in April. I have 3/4 qt of PP left over from the jug and I'm undecided to use either Pennzoil Conventional or FormulaShell; I have both, but I will return the one not used as I have a stash of $1 Havoline DS. I know I can mix the PP with DS, but I'd rather mix within the same parent company which is SOPUS in this case.
The Pennzoil Conventional and FS 5w30 used oil analysis posted on BITOG are very close along with both shearing near 8.6 for 100°C cSt visc 8.4.
The Maxx will have an OLM OCI (~4k mi during the summer) and the car is used for short drives to the store & children's schools in the southeast.
Which would you use - Pennzoil Conventional or FS?
Thanks.
