Lot going on there. None of the individual items seem outrageous, might even be reasonable. But the total of all the individual work adds up.

Serpentine belt replacements and upper coolant hose replacement seem high, but they might not be 5 minute jobs either.

Grand theft auto! What about fixing the problem properly with a small shield on the a/C unit to prevent rub through.
I guess they cant do that because it is not a Ford OE part.

So you're saying the upper rad hose failed due to rub through? I'm 2,000 miles away from this vehicle so I can't so inspect it in person. I've never had a radiator hose fail so I was thinking rub through or some other odd failure.

From what I read a couple of years ago in one of the trade magazines it was a common enough problem, it is a very simple hose to change but sits right above the unprotected a/c pulley, if that is the case the hose must be protected to prevent it happening again.

I didnt look but there is probably something on google or youtube about it. I don't remember if that included the 350.

That's not a bad estimate-IMHO.

That was my thought as well. Initially I thought of cutting the belts, plugs and alignment, but I looked the history up and other than oil changes, all we did to this vehicle was a set of tires and brakes at 68k. We cut back our annual vehicle replacements this year because of the supply chain issues the manufacturers have, so this didn't seem too unreasonable for a vehicle I plan to run for at least another 80k miles. I was also busy this morning and getting pulled into a bunch of other things so I just approved it.

Replace spark plugs $306.05? Must be something special ot really hard to get to.
$180.00ish an hour for labor-at most dealers. It doesn't take long to add up. Again-the dealers have overhead-major overhead and it's always cheaper to DIY.

I know on my wife's 3.3 Santa Fe you have to literally disassemble the top half of the motor practically to get to the rear spark plugs. It's $300.00 plus dollars for it as well.

Vans are notoriously terrible to work on.

What is grand theft auto?
What is your hourly rate?

And yes-the last sentence would be correct.

Why charge a Diag fee, Assuming the customer okays the work?

I will charge a Diag fee if the repair is simple & easy but the actual diagnosis was difficult, But charging a Diag to a job that's basically diagnosed during the multi point inspection????

Especially when the diagnosis is something as obvious as an upper rad hose!

Would agree. Everything looks about what I've seen on various cars I've owned over the years except replacing an upper radiator hose looks spendy. Would be interested in knowing how many hours of labor that is and why it seems so high. Can't imagine the hose is very much of that expense. Serpentine belt I'd guess $75-100 for the part and 0.5 hrs labor. Not certain why there are two prices. Is one part and the other labor? Are there two belts? I thought serpentines implied they run pretty much everything. But yeah, nothing totally outrageous, I'd just want to see the car to know how much of a hassle those things are and if they seem high and what portion is parts vs labor.
