I have maybee 8-10 total hours on my powerwasher over the past 3 years, its out of warranty. upon starting my power washer the other day i got no pressure *pump not working* So im looking into replacing the pump. the craftsman came with a China pump under it. B&S has this part number stating its a B&S part..

so ive deducted that there are several makers of this pump.
most common is the China pump for around $165 via the web.
Amazon has one for $145

does anyone have experience on this topic, replacing the pump ?
With such short hours im afraid another China pump wont serve me well, but to be perfectly honest ive never winterized my washer.. not that i start snooping i see winterizing (in a can) kits... so now i know, but i still need to replace this pump..

You can try and rebuild it. Its a cheap pump in the first place. Look at pwpump.com to get ideas. They are great with advice. You may find they have the cheapest pump or EBAY. You need to decide whether you want to get a like for like or upgrade. CAT makes some of the best. The PWPUMP.COM rates the pumps in hours. You need one that mounts to your engine config., and is not too big for your engine.

I keep my pressure washers in the basement or at least the attached garage.

I know they sell the antifreeze. I prefer warmth.

appreciate it, found one on ebay shiiped for $110.00 told my wife to order it for me a bit ago..

I have found the ONLY way to get any kind of longevity what so ever out of those cheap pumps. Is to use the Briggs & Straton Synthetic pump oil. That stuff works very well.

That leads to a second question, pump oil ? I know higher end models have pump oil, to be perfectly honest i didnt know mine had oil in it, i thought it only had engine oil.. Im not sure where the drain plug or the fill is on this model.. there is a brass looking bolt on the bottom of the pump, but i dont see a fill location ? anyone ?? there no inspection window, dip stick, ect.. so how do you maintain it ?

Just replaced the pump on a craftsman with 6.5hp Briggs with an AR North America - RMV2.5G30-EZ, which is an axial cam pump but considerably better than the original. Paid $129 and free shipping. Now I need to find a place for a replacement gas tank and cap for the Briggs. Tank leaks at seam and cap is cracked. C*r*a*p plastic parts from Briggs.

Many of the lower end pumps have now way to add or check the oil. They are "lubed for life" as they say. I have one on my $199 craftsman unit, I have had it 4-5 years with no issues. I shoot some of the Briggs and Stratton "pump saver" spray through it if it is not going to be used for a while and before winter storage. It is supposed to have a lubricant in it that prevents corrosion.
