My John Deere 950 Yanmar 3T series diesel fuel injection pump has started leaking/weeping. Probably the original from 1978, has just over 2200 hours on it. Runs fine just weeping a bit now.

I have ordered the replacement O-rings (#18) to do the job but while looking & researching I'm stuck trying to figure out if the copper washer (#19) is a crush washer and that would require replacement as well when the O-rings are replaced to eliminate the leak.

If anyone is familiar with this repair, please advise if just the O-ring needs replaced or the copper washer is required as well, or even beyond those parts what may be required. Thanks in advance for assistance.

Are you sure the lines just dont need to be snugged down?

28 looks like where the copper washer would be. There is probably a gasket under the pump too and could be what is leaking. I've only worked on Kubota pumps, but would imagine yanmar is similar. What does a refurb pump cost? Might be worth considering.

Tried snugging them up already, torque spec. is 29-32.6 ft lbs. still weeping though. Leak is definitely at what they call the delivery holder I believe which the o-ring seats on.

Figure it’s time to replace the o-rings due to age, just want to ensure I obtain the correct parts required to fix the issue.

Refurb pump runs $600-$800+ depending on vendor, more than I want to invest at the moment.

I don’t think you’ll hurt anything removing the delivery valves and replacing the seals. My son and I upgraded the valves in a Bosch P7000 pump without any problems. Just keep the parts absolutely clean. It might be a different pump, but those particular parts are just about identical in function.
