Craftsman Oil Port Ratchet rebuild

My old 1/2 ratchet started skipping here and there, so i bought a rebuild kit for it.

I will clean it well, but should i use superlube syn grease in it, or oil? @Trav has posted about atf dunks.

Thoughts?

Either way it will probably outlast me after a rebuild.

Clean it up, put it back together, and oil it = rebuild. A drop or two of oil (your choice) once a month on a ratchet that gets used daily.

I have used this assembly lube based upon suggestions from the "old wise mechanic" that used to rebuild Craftsman ratchets on the spot when the Sears & Roebuck Brick and Mortar stores were thriving in the '90s and early 2000s.

I use SuperLube in all my ratchets that I’ve taken apart to clean. Does really well.

Absolutely, these are not sealed. Some manual transmissions use ATF and it holds up fine, no need to take it apart just toss it on a jug with ATF covering the head of the ratchet over the weekend. Drain it off, wipe it down and work all week with it.
