I always look at the engine oils available at my Costco, but I never buy anything. If they had some good value 20L of 5w40 I'd snap it up. Here's a look at what they have here in the UK. I don't think you can get Chevron oil anywhere else here.

Costco in the States used to sell Chevron Supreme but back then it was conventional or semi-synthetic. My rigs used lots and lots of it. It's fine oil.

If the Chevron was a C3 or A3/B4 oil I'd have probably bought 100 containers of the stuff by now. But as a 'thickie', I just can't do it.

They used to stock M1 0w40 FS for ~£25 for 5 litres but that's now gone too. 😭

Have you experienced recycling of oil over there?
Is it facilitated or cumbersome?
As a DIYer, I take my used fluids to our local authority run rubbish and recycling centre. Antifreeze, fuel, paint, other chemicals can be left there in a labelled container. Engine oil can be poured into a large tank. I tend to store my used engine oil in a 20L oil container (one that I bought bulk fresh oil), and when it gets full, I take it there and pour it out.

Its free to use for DIY amounts, funded from our local council tax. Its a government facilitated thing. They can technically ask for proof that you live in that jurisdiction, but they don't tend to.

Its the same place we take our rubbish, aka rubbish dump or "tip" in British English.

I see a lot of USA people are able to take their used oil to Autozone or similar, we don't have anything like that. No private companies want to deal with that here. Too much risk and red tape, no benefits. Plus, I think there is less of a DIY culture here.

Funny story, my mother once took my 20L engine oil to the tip, since she was going there to dispose of some garden waste. The workers shouted at her and directed her to the waste cooking oil tank and she had to explain over and over that it was engine oil. I guess they don't see much women disposing of engine oil.

What specifications does the Chevron Supreme carry in the UK?
API SL/CF and ACEA A5/B5.
Yeah, as above A5/B5, which is/was ideal for previous cars I had. But no use to me now. I'm in the process of moving most of my fleet to a single 5w40 with Renault and Merc approvals.
